Morgen Wurde ⋄ Von Jetzt An (Frosti Label)

Von Jetzt An, the tenth album by Morgen Wurde, the project of German composer Wolfgang Röttger, opens with a quiet horizon of sound. Released on Frosti, the label of Thomas Ragsdale, it bridges ambient and modern classical textures without percussion, allowing tones to linger, shift, and resonate freely. Silence and space are as integral as the instruments themselves, guiding the listener into a contemplative environment that expands gradually and naturally.

Georges Emmanuel Schneider’s violin cuts through the soundscape with clarity and intimacy, while David Strother’s electric violin drifts in a more spectral register, hinting at worlds just beyond reach. Tetsuroh Konishi’s trumpet rises with patient arcs, sending signals that stretch across the layers, and Maria Estrella Aggabao’s vocals hover above everything, weightless and crystalline, lifting the textures into a higher register of light. The instruments interweave with careful restraint, their gestures deliberate yet unforced, creating a balance between closeness and vastness that permeates every passage.

Across its duration, Von Jetzt An moves seamlessly between shadowed, abyssal moments and stretches of radiant openness. Darker tones introduce tension without overwhelming, while brighter sections expand into luminous, meditative space. Breath, phrasing, and human gesture provide a grounding presence, giving the music warmth and immediacy even as it reaches outward. The album invites the listener to dwell within it, to move with its ebb and flow, and to experience a world both intimate and immense, where stillness, reflection, and gentle grandeur coexist.
